Rémy Kinna is an Australian international water law, policy and governance expert, based in the Mekong region.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Rémy holds a LLB, BSc (Hons) and DipLang (French) from Monash University, Australia, and a LLM (Environmental & Marine) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Regarding water issues, he was the Researcher in the Global Governance of International Watercourses with the UNESCO Centre for Water Law, Policy & Science at the University of Dundee, Scotland and worked with the Freshwater and Marine Unit in the Division of Environmental Law & Conventions at UNEP in Kenya. Rémy has consulted for a range of local, national, international and global organisations, including: WWF; IUCN's BRIDGE Hydro-diplomacy Program; Oxfam's Mekong Water Governance Program; Mekong River Commission; GiZ; and WaterAid.

RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONSHis research focuses upon international water law and policy, river basin governance and liability from mining pollution, on which he has published and edited journal articles and special issues, as well as presented conference papers and been on expert panels. He also regularly commentates via Twitter.
Rémy is both a co-editor and also an author of two chapters in the book published by Brill in April 2015 entitled ‘The UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and international Lakes: Its Contribution to International Water Cooperation’. |
APPOINTMENTS & AWARDSIn September 2015, Rémy was appointed to a three year tenure as an Honorary Research Associate of the University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Law within the Institute of Marine and Environmental Law.
He has been the recipient of multiple university awards and scholarships, including from Xiamen University's International Law Academy (China) and Monash University (Australia). |
